Bruce and Kay bought this 2002 PT Cruiser brand new and when it came time to do something with it, they brought it to us, and it has become one of our most talked about builds.
For those unaware, this Cruiser is now powered by a 5.7L Hemi. Extensive fab work was done to turn the former FWD 4 cylinder car into a RWD V8 hotrod. A Heidts Hot Rod & Muscle Car Parts Mustang II front suspension and rear triangulated 4-link are paired with Viking Performance, Inc. coil overs and Wilwood Disc Brakes brakes. A Be Cool, Inc. radiator handles engine cooling, the Rick’s Hot Rods stainless tank holds plenty of fuel for cruising, and a custom built stainless exhaust, featuring Dynomax Exhaust mufflers and Vibrant Performance resonators bring the hotrod sound.
Outside features a subtle body kit and mods to give the car some more attitude. All lenses were smoked and the Rocket Racing Wheels Injector wheels were powder coated to add to that attitude. To top it off the car was sprayed PPG Paints green with gold highlights and various accents for a unique look.
Although much of the car is changed from a factory PT Cruiser, the owners wanted to keep the interior as original as possible, so care was taken with modifications so that all the original interior panels, seats, and even console could be retained and functional. A set of Classic Instruments gauges to monitor vitals are one of the only visible changes to the interior. And they will be cruising in comfort thanks to Vintage Air, Inc. air conditioning, the controls of which we modified to use the factory controls and knobs.
Thanks to Bruce and Kay for letting us take their PT from mild to wild!
